LA College Halfway Mark!

Last week marked the half way point of my 10 week makeup artistry course in LA college of creative arts (here).
To say I never want it to end is an understatement! I love the course!
Each week we have a different tutor, so we get to pick new brains every other class and find out lots of different tips, tricks and techniques so we can then meld them all together and decide for ourselves which way we prefer to do things.

We also have a range of makeup brands at our disposal - MAC, La Creative, Illumasqua, Rimmel, Makeup Forever to name but a few - again helping us get a real feel for makeup, and the differences in textures and colours to see which works for us. This is possibly my favourite thing about the course - unbiased recommendations! No makeup artist has only one brand of products in their kit, so why should the students?!

I've learned some great techniques so far, and last Thursday was a full recap on things we found tricky. The class chose to recap on the perfect smokey eye, with a pop of colour & gel liner (I swear I'll never get the hang of liner!!)

One of the girls was sick, so I got to work on myself for this look..
And here's my attempt:

  1. That's a brilliant look Sarah. I know, I find gel liner really tricky too sometimes but it's true that you have to just keep practicing. Love that you get a new tutor every time that sounds great!

  5. Congrats on reaching the halfway mark! Sounds like a fun course :). I just started a year long course and wish we had a variety of products instead of just one brand!

    1. Thank you :) oh wow a year?! I'd love to do a longer one! Tbh it really is about the techniques more than anything - most makeup recommendations I get I get online from blogs etc :)
