Benefit They're Real [Review]

One of my Christmas presents this year was They're Real mascara by Benefit!
As someone who feels naked without their mascara on this was a very welcome addition to my makeup bag!
As you can see, above, Benefit themselves make a very big promise with this mascara - that it'll leave you with false looking lashes - yay! Now, I have very long lashes anyways, and am always being asked if they're fake, so I was very interested to see what this does that my usual cheapo mascara doesn't.

Cleanse Off Mitt [Review]

I have recently been sent a fantastic little present from the lovely people over at Cleanse Off Mitt - they are campaigning for everyone to 'Bin the Wipes' in favour of favour of their much more hygienic, just as easy and much more effective face mitt!

MUA Makeup [Haul & Swatches]

While over in London recently I found myself in a superdrug, at the MUA counter so obviously I had to pick up a few bits! Starting at £1 how could I not?! To make it even more tempting they were 3for2!

Secret Santa [Part 1]

Around a month ago I signed up to a blogger Secret Santa organised by the lovely Fiona from Dolly Dowsie.. I loved the idea of it - getting to buy little beauty related presents for someone you've never met and receive a package of goodies yourself too! How exciting!

Fast forward to last week when a lovely little package got delivered to my door and I just couldn't wait to open it up!

I feel like I'm jumping on the Michael Kors band wagon but I love this bag! It's so simple and chic and it has extra padding to help protect laptops/tablets! Perfect!

L.A. College Bridal Photoshoot

Sadly the time has come that I have finished my course in L.A. College Of Creative Arts (*cry*)..

However, finishing means I did a photo shoot!!

For our shoot we did two looks, natural & bridal. For both looks I had a very clear picture in my head of how I wanted the final shots - the natural I wanted a dead on head & shoulders shot (like a models agency head shot) and for the bridal I wanted my model to be looking down, but not over the shoulder..
And, obviously, I wanted the makeup to be flawless ;)

Haircut @ The Studio

Around a week ago I got my haircut by the wonderful Marco in The Studio, Ranelagh.

A good hairdresser is hard to find, and as I have and love very long hair I used to dread going for a chop, fearing that I'd leave bald - after a bob when I was 14ish I vowed never to get more then an inch off again!

Kim Kardashian Kontouring

I know this is a well demonstrated and blogged about technique since Kim K posted that picture of her face streaked in pink and brown a few months ago, but I've only gotten around to trying it!
We all know Kim's signature glow and chiseled features that make her the envy of women (and men) everywhere and the truth is its not that hard to recreate yourself. Her dark Armenian features definitely help with this look, but with the right brushes and various foundation shades it can be done on even the pastiest of skin :)

Beauty Tip of the Week [9]

Use a peachy toned liquid concealer on under eye dark circles.

The pinky tone will help brighten and liquid concealers will not crease as much as solid ones!

I'm obsessed with burgandy at the minute!

Bodum Tea For One [Review]

This little beauty was a gift from my brother when I started drinking herbal teas - thanks Michael!

Basically it's a tea diffuser and strainer and it's pretty darn nifty, not to mention quite nice to look at!
As herbal/green tea drinkers may know, most teas have both recommended temperatures and brew times - basically if you leave brewing too long they can start to taste awful!

Ted Baker - The Great & The Gorgeous

I picked up this little beauty in boots last week - on sale to €25 as one of their Christmas promotions, RRP €52!

I'm a bit of a magpie, with a love of rose gold so obviously I just had to have it! Plus for €22.50 (after student discount) they were practically giving it away!

NIMA Mitt [Revew]

I recently ordered a NIMA Mitt from the amazing Irish company NIMA Brush . This is a pink Microfiber face cleansing cloth that claims to remove all makeup and dirt from skin using nothing but water!
I was completely sold on it after reading Beauty Angels review (here).. I was wondering if maybe Beauty angel was being overly complimentary but seeing I had done nothing but rave about my NIMA Brushes I thought what the hell - it's only €12.95!

October GlossyBox

A new month means a new Glossybox!

This month it was the "Dark Romance" box, obviously in keeping with Halloween!
Honestly after last months box (here) I was slightly disappointed this month :( Mostly because it wasn't very 'dark' at all! If your going to have a theme then stick with it!

What's My Face Worth!? Day Edition!

I've see this post popping up on loads of blogs over the past few weeks and I've been putting off doing one myself, basically because I don't want to admit just how much I spend on makeup!

Some bloggers include their cleansing/moisturising products and maybe even brushes but just to save myself from a heart attack at the end figure I'm sticking with just the makeup :)

The products I'm limiting are for my "day face", but on a day when I actually have time to do my face properly which to be honest is quite rare..

Inglot Freedom Palette

Inglot palettes are my new favourite thing! I picked this one up in their new South Anne St Store (review here) and had such a hard time choosing between all of the beautiful colours!

Beauty Tip of the Week [8]

Take a day, a night or even an hour to yourself every week for some pampering.
It doesn't have to be expensive - run a bath, turn off the phone and make a homemade face mask. Or even just paint your nails while listening to your favourite music!

Brown Thomas Haul

I was very very bold recently and went on a huge spree in Brown Thomas! Tut tut Sarah..
To be fair it was my first paycheck from a new job and sure it's pretty much obligatory to blow it, isn't it?!

I got myself some veryyyy pretty things though, so all is right with the world :)

Professional Beauty Dublin [Haul]

Professional Beauty Show hit the RDS in Dublin on 6th & 7th October.. It is a trade only event, and as a makeup artistry student I had the pleasure of being able to attend!

It is an opportunity for professionals to stock up on kit, brushes, makeup and to showcase their talent in the competitions (there were zombies, fairys and others walking around - all looking spectacular!!)

After having gone to both a 50th and a 30th at the weekend I was on a bit of a budget, so decided that I would stick to a list and try not to get too carried away :)

Here's what I got :

Royal Langnickel Brush Belt

Beauty Tip of the Week [7]

When washing your makeup brushes use baby shampoo.
If brushes are stained by overuse or dark colours then shampoo first, wash with baby oil and shampoo again

Beauty Tip of the Week [6]

For naturally curly, frizz prone hair, use a little conditioner as serum when just out of the shower. Rub through hair avoiding roots and don't wash out to help keep frizz at bay :)

LA College Halfway Mark!

Last week marked the half way point of my 10 week makeup artistry course in LA college of creative arts (here).
To say I never want it to end is an understatement! I love the course!
Each week we have a different tutor, so we get to pick new brains every other class and find out lots of different tips, tricks and techniques so we can then meld them all together and decide for ourselves which way we prefer to do things.

No.7 Pore Vacuum Mask [Review]

After reading the review of this on Beaut.ie (here) I was disgusted, intrigued and simply had to buy it!
Even the name itself - 'Pore Vacuum' sounds amazing (not that I'm into that sort of thing...)

It is a clay like mask that peels off, removing excess oil and unclogging pores while giving your skin a deep cleanse.

Vichy Normaderm Micellar Solution [Review]

A cleanser that will remove your makeup, doesn't need washed off and is around €10?
Check, Check, Check!

I'm fairly new to cleansing waters - I usually wash my face with a regular face wash - but after starting my makeup course (here) I've needed to start using something that doesn't require water as the first thing we have to do every class is remove all makeup, for obvious reasons.

My First Glossybox

I finally received my first Glossybox!!
After waiting not so patiently for the postman to deliver my box full of treats it came :)

This months box (September) was the 'London Edition' to celebrate London Fashion Week and I'm really hoping all future boxes are this good!
Glossybox is a subscription service that delivers a box full of 5 sample sized beauty treats, or even a full sized product or two for £10 a month (+ P&P) - working out at around €15 total - complete bargain!

This month at least I was very lucky and got four full sized products!

Here's what I got :

Inglot South Anne St Opening

The lovely ladies over at Inglot very kindly invited me along to a VIP blogger event to celebrate the opening of their amazing new store on South Anne St (off Grafton St) in Dublin!
It was my first blogger event, and I was an 'Inglot Virigin' but both of those cherries have now been popped, and what a beautifully colourful way to pop them!

Crown Brushes [Haul & Discount Code!!]

Originally I went on to the Crown Brush website to get the C433 brush as I heard it was a complete dupe for the MAC 127 - a makeup artists favourite - but I got a bit (a lot) carried away by their amazing prices and the glowing reviews I'd heard about their brushes!
Having previously ordered from Crown with nothing but good experience I thought what the hell - let's go wild!

Unexpected Treats

For those who don't know, Glossybox is a subscription service for makeup and beauty lovers! For just £10 a month (plus P&P) "you’ll get a beautiful wrapped Glossybox sent to your doorstep with 5 surprise beauty miniatures". This is a fantastic idea and something I was dying to try out, and finally took the plunge with the September box!

So, here I was getting all annoyed that my first Glossybox (LINK) hadn't arrived yet so I send an email to their customer care team to see what the story was (no tracking info to Ireland, very annoying!)..

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser [Review]

The newest offering from Nivea, an in shower body moisturiser/skin conditioner.

This product definitely intrigued me from the ads on tv - it seemed to be a less messy, less sticky version of Johnson's baby oil. And it is!!

This stuff is great! Now don't confuse it with a body wash, it's purely a moisturiser so you use it after your usual washing/shaving routine.

Beauty Tip of the Week [5]

Using a Muslin Cloth to wash your face is a great light exfoliant even for sensitive skin.
Muslin Cloth's can be found in the baby section of most pharmacies and are very cheap!
Apply face wash or cleansing lotion as normal and rub off with a warm, wet muslin cloth in circular motions, this will help both remove makeup and any dead skin.

Big Bouncy Hair : How To

A very easy tutorial on how I get big bouncy hair :)

I find this best and easiest to do on second day, already straightened hair.
The reason I say already straightened is because my hair is naturally very curly & wavy and left to its own devices its untameable, but if your lucky enough to have naturally straight or easy to work with hair this may be done straight after a wash :)

Beauty Tip of the Week [4]

On the Waterline, use a skin coloured eyeliner pencil instead of a white one, to help open up the eyes without being too harsh.

My favourite is Rimmel's Scandal Eyes in 005 - Nude. At only €5.49 its a bargain, and the pigmentation and smoothness rivals those at three times the price :)

Brows : How To

Thanks to models like Cara Delevingne there is more focus then ever on eyebrows, and the bigger the better! Unfortunately after years of over plucking my brows leave allot to be desired, and I'm sure I'm not alone, so here's a step by step to how I fill in my brows :)

Beauty Tip of the Week [3]

When applying mascara, apply to your bottom lashes first. This will help cut out mascara smudges under your eyebrows as you have to open your eyes wide to coat bottom lashes!

LA College Module 2 Student Kit

Last week I started the Module 2 High Fasion & Bridal course in LA College of Creative Arts and along with it got an amazing makeup and tool kit! I was like a kid at Christmas opening it! The best thing about this kit is that it holds a range of different brands, as LA are non brand affiliated (despite having their own makeup range).

So, here's what I got! :

Sally Hansen Polish Update [1 Week Later]

So I've had this on for a week now, and although its ready to come off it definitely held up very very well!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure [Review]

I stumbled across this beautiful polish set in TK MAXX for €9.99 which is a complete bargain seeing as they are usually €6-8!

(L-R: 210 Naked Ambition, 320 Raisin the Bar, 404 Greige Gardens, 340 Black Platinum)

Beauty Tip Of The Week [2]

Ran out of dry shampoo? Use baby powder!

Whether your trying to save your hair by not washing and therefore drying and styling it as much, your fringe gets greasy before the rest of your hair or maybe you would just prefer an extra hour in bed, dry shampoo is a god send! But if you run out don't worry, the soft white baby powder hiding away in your bathroom will sort you right out!

Simply apply to hands, pat together, gently rub into hairline/through hair and then brush through.

Be very careful not to use too much and this is best done before going to bed the night before, as too much can grey and dull hair so even if it turns out a little grey, rolling around on your pillow and letting it set in overnight should do the trick :)

Did you find this helpful?
